Impending Doom – Death. Ascension. Resurrection.

La canción más bestia que ha aparecido nunca en esta sección. De largo. Pero no se nos ocurre un mejor día para elegir un temazo de deathcore cristiano que nos motive de cara aeste fin de semana. Sí, puede que a más de uno eso de deathcore y de cristiano le parezcan conceptos antagónicos, pero nada más lejos de la realidad, y como muestra este botón. La banda formada en Riverside (California) y ahora establecida en Austin (Texas) Impending Doom ha lanzado seis discos de estudio en sus casi dos décadas de vida, y por ella han pasado multitud de músicos, siendo su vocalista Brook Reeves y el batería Manny Contreras (que estuvo fuera entre 2010 y 2012) los únicos miembros originales que perduran a día de hoy. Curiosamente, el tema elegido es el que cierra su cuarto disco de estudio, «Baptized In Filth», grabado y publicado justo antes del regreso de Contreras. En «Death. Ascension. Resurrection.» tenemos todos los elementos, tanto musicales como líricos, típicos del repertorio de Impending Doom, aflorando su habilidad para entrelazar textos bíblicos con crudas referencias de rabiosa actualidad. La banda se autodefine como «gorship», un acrónimo de las palabras «gore» y «whorship». A eso nos referimos. Otro ejemplo de que la espiritualidad y el headbanging no están reñidos.
